The active ingredient in Alphagan Eye Drops is brimonidine tartrate which is a part of a group of medications called alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, and it has the ability to release pressure that may be contained in the eyeball. It does this by releasing the fluid that may have built up in there, allowing this liquid to flow out of the eye chamber.

The solution also contains inactive ingredients like polyvinyl alcohol, benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, citric acid, sodium citrate, and purified water. This treatment can be used alone, as well as alongside other drops or medicine that is prescribed or approved by the doctor.
